Stormy Years

Broken Vessel

Mama, where are you? whispers the child.
Playing quietly alone, the child smiles at the sound of Mama's voice.
Running carelessly to reach Mama's arms, the child steps on glass and blood flows.
Mama holds the crying child close and soothes the pain.

Child grows to young adulthood but withdraws from others.
Still crying Mama where are you? silently.
Mama don't you know the man is hurting me?
Mama can't you seen my pain?
Mama? Mama?
Where are you? Don't you care?
The child cries alone, no soothing there...
